Check out our newest employee spotlight for Margaret Dexter:
Assembler, Employee at OMT-Veyhl since 2014.
What do you love about your job?
I just love it here. I’ve worked on all but one assembly line in the building. A lot of people here call me Grandma or Miss Margaret. I’m one of the oldest people at OMT-Veyhl, and I have a great team. I also just really like Lars (CEO and President of OMT-Veyhl) and his folks are great people, too. He engages a lot with the employees on the floor and has a great personality.
What are your hobbies outside of work?
I love going on walks. I also enjoy fishing, but I haven’t gone in a while. My husband and I love to travel to the Smokey Mountains and enjoy the outdoors there. Maybe I’ll move there after I retire.
What is your favorite season?
Summer. I enjoy going to Grand Haven and walking the boardwalk.
What is your favorite food?
A southern dish — like pinto beans, corn bread, and fried potatoes. I always know my kids are up to something when they make me that since it’s my favorite food.
What job did you want to have growing up?
I was raised to be a good wife and mother, and that’s what I was. My first husband and I were both electricians until I took care of him during the last years of his life. And once he passed away, I needed to get back to work and that’s how I got to OMT-Veyhl.
What’s the first thing you’d buy with a million dollars?
I’d pay off my bills and give to charity.
Have you ever broken any bones?
I got thrown from a horse when I was 14 and I broke my shoulder. Then about 10 years ago I fell on black ice and broke my other shoulder.
What is something unique about you?
I’m originally from Kentucky. I’ll be 64 in June 2022. And, I have perfect attendance at OMT-Veyhl for 7 years!
